Real TÚNDÙN: A Wedding in Ibadan

TÚNDÙN Editorial·20 April 2026

When Folake approached the TÚNDÙN atelier for her traditional wedding in Ibadan, she had a clear vision: uncompromising tradition mixed with modern tailoring.

"I wanted the classic three-piece - Irọ́, Bùbá, and Gèlè - but I wanted it in a custom Sányán weave that felt impossibly light," she explains.

The Design Process

Our bespoke team worked with weavers in Iseyin to create a custom Sányán variation, incorporating subtle silver Lurex threads into the traditional beige wild silk. The result was a fabric that caught the light beautifully under the Ibadan sun.

For Akin, the groom, we crafted a majestic Ètù Agbádá. The deep indigo provided a striking contrast to Folake's lighter ensemble.

The Big Day

The Alága Ìdúró (traditional MC) specifically praised the authenticity of the couples' attire.

"When Akin prostrated before my family, the way the Agbádá settled around him... it was a powerful moment. It felt like we were connecting directly to our ancestors," Folake recalls.
